Tiny Desk AI Band mode puts five people into one Tiny Desk-style concert video. Upload 1 group photo of all five, or 5 single photos, and every performer is replaced: lead singer, keyboard, sax and two backup singers. It costs the same as Solo, from $9.99 with no subscription. Upload your photos in the Tiny Desk AI video maker.

Tip: give Picture 1 to the person the video is about, such as the birthday friend, the coach or the new hire. The lead singer gets the most screen time.

Group photo checklist

  • Exactly five people, all facing the camera.
  • Every face fully visible: no sunglasses, masks, hats over the eyes or heads cut off by the frame.
  • Even light across the whole group, with no one in deep shadow.
  • Faces large enough to see clearly. Crop out extra background if the group is small in the frame.
  • JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB.

If one face is small or blurry in the group photo, switch to 5-photo mode and upload a separate photo of that person.

Who uses Band mode

  • Sports teams and fans: the format that made the trend viral.
  • Offices: a farewell, promotion or Friday roast with the whole team.
  • Friends and family: birthdays, reunions and group chats.
  • Real bands and choirs: a playful clip for your own socials.

Rules for group videos

Everyone in the video should know about it. Before rendering you confirm that you have permission to use every photo, and the video must not be used to impersonate anyone, mislead viewers, advertise or imply an endorsement. Tiny Desk AI is not affiliated with NPR, NPR Music, Tiny Desk Concerts, Charlie Wilson or The Gap Band.

Questions

Does Band mode cost more than Solo?

No. Band and Solo cost the same, so five people cost the same as one. Packs are $9.99, $19.90 and $29.90 as one-time payments.

Can I use one group photo instead of five photos?

Yes. Upload 1 group photo with all five people visible and Tiny Desk AI assigns each person to a role by their position in the photo.

How do I choose who plays the sax?

Use 5-photo mode and put that person's photo in Picture 3. Picture 1 is always the lead singer and Picture 2 is always the keyboard player.

Can I make a Tiny Desk AI video with fewer than five people?

Yes, for one person. Use Solo mode with 1 photo to replace only the lead singer. Band mode is built for five people.

How long is the Band video?

The Band video is 15 seconds, 9:16 vertical, 720p, with sound, the same as Solo.
